Which Fire Alarm System
Is Right for Your Building?
The right system type depends on building size, occupancy, budget, and whether you're building new or retrofitting an occupied space. County Fire designs to the system that fits your project — not the one that's easiest to sell.

Conventional
Devices are wired in zones — the panel identifies which zone triggered an alarm, not the specific device. Lower upfront cost, suited to small retail spaces and single-floor properties with limited device counts.
Addressable
Every device has its own address on the circuit, so the panel identifies the exact device in alarm — critical for faster response in larger buildings. The standard choice for most NYC commercial and multi-family installations.
Analog Addressable
An evolution of addressable technology — each device reports a continuous analog value (not just alarm/normal), letting the panel detect drift, contamination, or degrading sensitivity before a device fails outright.
Wireless
Devices communicate over a supervised RF mesh instead of wired circuits. Common where wiring is impractical or restricted — landmarked buildings, historic properties, and phased retrofit projects.
Hybrid
Combines wired addressable devices in accessible areas with wireless devices where running conduit isn't practical. Common in multi-phase renovations where some floors are gutted and others remain occupied.

What Drives Fire Alarm
Installation Cost
Installation pricing varies more than any other fire alarm service — a small tenant fit-out and a 40-story new construction project have almost nothing in common cost-wise. Here's what actually moves the number, so your quote makes sense before you get it.
Square footage and occupancy classification determine how many detectors, pull stations, and notification appliances the code requires.
Conventional, addressable, analog addressable, wireless, or hybrid — each has a different cost per device and different panel cost.
Wiring an occupied building around tenants and existing infrastructure typically costs more than wiring an open, unfinished space.
Straightforward filings move faster and cost less than projects requiring variances, amendments, or coordination with other filed trades.
Reusing existing conduit, wiring pathways, or a compatible panel can meaningfully reduce cost versus a full rip-and-replace.
Compressed construction schedules or off-hours work in occupied buildings can affect labor cost — we flag this during site assessment.
Yours.
